NYFW Final Roundup…
I have a confession guys. NYFW is exhausting. It’s not as glamorous as it seems. Now don’t get me wrong I love it and I’m not complaining. I just want to tell you the truth. It’s a lot of fun seeing so many amazing designers showcasing their work and the parties and swag are fabulous. I had so much fun meeting so many bloggers and members of Style Collective this year. Highly recommend joining this fantastic group of #girlbosses! I was very fortunate this year to see some really amazing designers. One of my absolute favorites was Leanne Marshall. If you don’t know that name you should. The dresses were all soooo stunning. Every single dress that came down the runway was just beautiful. They were all in lovely shades of pastels, long, and flowy. There was an ethereal sense about the dresses. I hope to own one someday soon.
My dress for the last day was inspired by the swoon worthy dresses I saw that day. Let me tell you a flowy, off the shoulder dress was perfect for the heat this fashion week brought with it.
Reality…
But the reality behind all the beautiful clothes and #ootds is there is a ton of work (very little sleep), that goes into it. Planning out the outfits according to the weather (which is alway finicky), trying to find time to eat, and making a schedule to get yourself to all the places needed to on time and by not spending a fortune on Uber. This wasn’t my first time around so I knew a few tricks, like always packing a few granola bars in my bag. You really never know when your next meal will be and mine happened to be after 10pm most nights during that week. Also giving your feet a break is crucial. High heels all day for a week solid is not good. Your feet will be crying and it doesn’t make the experience any better when you are in pain. I alternated between heels, flat sandals, and my Stan Smith Adidas.
If you need some remedies I recommend rubbing biofreeze on your feet before bed and soaking them in epsom salts with baking soda every night if you can. A good way to not blow your paycheck on cabs and uber is by packing flats and walking to the next destination or at least halfway there. If you can take the subway do that too, it’s wayyyy cheaper. And always remember to hydrate in between shows and all the champs you will be drinking. The events seem to have a never ending supply lol. 😉 😉
