Bourbon Spiced Cider…
Yes, you did read that correctly. Hot cider is perfect for chilly nights and what better ingredient to add to it then some bourbon. I am not a big bourbon/scotch/whiskey drinker but I do like it mixed into some drinks. It’s the perfect addition to a delicious cup of hot apple cider. Also while the cider is heating up it makes the entire home smell so amazing! It gives it such a cozy feel. We have had two snow days so far and it’s really beginning to look and feel like Christmas around here.
This is my favorite time of the year!! If you remember from last year, I am basically like Will Ferrell in Elf. I really just love this holiday so much and it’s so fun. My birthday is also on the 16th so December really is my month. I have loved the winter time every since I was a kid building snowmen with my sister. There are so many great memories that even as an adult I get just as excited for the holidays and Santa lol. 🙂
This is also our first Christmas with Misha so it feels extra special. Boris and I have been wanting to get a dog for so long and Misha has been the perfect addition to our family. He is a little polar bear basically. People ask us if he is real half the time and it’s really funny. We love our little fluff <3
Hope you guys have a great weekend and stay warm! The cider will definitely help 😉
Recipe
- A 1/2 gallon of fresh apple cider
- 10 cinnamon sticks
- 1 apple sliced into 1/4in round slices
- 1 orange sliced into 1/4in round slices
- Good quality bourbon. I used Bulleit Bourbon
- Mulling spices
- Metal spice ball
- Pour the cider into a large pot and turn the heat to low
- Add in cinnamon sticks, apple slices, and orange slices
- Fill the spice ball with the mulling spices
- Pour in 4oz of bourbon
- Let it simmer for 30 minutes
- Serve into mugs with an additional 1oz bourbon per mug
- *If you do not have a spice ball you can get the mulling spices already in little satchels
- *Also eat the fruit that has been simmering! It's delicious
A few notes…
This is the spice ball I have. It’s great for mulled wine and loose leaf teas too.
This set is also a great gift for the holidays.
